Does our quality of life depend on precast concrete? You bet it does.

A strong and dependable infrastructure is the backbone of the U.S. economy. And precast concrete is an indispensable part of that infrastructure, including roadways, water treatment systems, stormwater management systems and our solid waste systems. The quality, durability and dependability of precast concrete quite literally forms the foundation of our nation.
Yet, it is commonly acknowledged that America needs to update its aging infrastructure. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave our nation’s infrastructure a cumulative grade of D+ in their most recent report. But it’s not enough to just repair yesterday’s infrastructure; we must build new systems to serve our needs for tomorrow. Making this investment will pay off for our economy in countless ways.
The good news is that the U.S. cement and concrete industry provides employment for 535,000 people and contributes $100 billion annually to the national economy, according to The Hill. Texas in particular is leading the way. The state accounts for the largest percentage of national ready-mix production volume at 20 percent, which is more that the next two highest producers — California and Georgia — combined. The concrete, aggregate and cement industries in Texas employ over 100,000 people and generate more than $8 billion in annual revenues, according to the Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association.
Plus, the industry continues to improve efficiency with new technology and improved methodologies, like ad hoc mixes by specification, advanced stress tests and compressive strength test machines that increase efficiency while ensuring maximum durability.
