Waco TX

Waco TX is named after some of the area’s earliest inhabitants, the Wichita tribe (“Waco” in Spanish). In the 1820s, the Wichita were pushed out of the area by white settlers and the city of Waco TX started to grow. The centerpiece of the city was the Waco Suspension Bridge, which provided a crucial crossing over the Brazos River. Today Waco TX is best known as the home of Baylor University (one of the oldest schools in Texas) and the birthplace of Dr Pepper. There is even a Dr Pepper museum in town.
